READING and WRITING
Students need to read each night for about 30 minutes.
We are spending this last month reading and writing fairytales. Students have been picking apart a fairytale of choice and is working with a partner to write a fractured fairytale. A fractured fairytale is based on an original story, but changed in some way; the characters, setting, or events. For example, The Three Little Pigs versus The True Story of the Three Little Pigs told from the wolf's point of view. We plan on publishing the stories and reading them aloud to other students in school.
5 Minute write
Students will have a 5 minute write notebook. They will write down a prompt each day. Each afternoon/evening, students need to sit down and answer this prompt in writing while being timed for at least five minutes. Students should write for the entire five minutes. Please do not interrupt them or assist them in this writing. This is a no pressure type of situation. You may tweak the prompt if needed.
We will use this writing as part of our class each day.
